History

Light Under The Bridge began in 2008 with founders Kevin & Hope Kerkof.  They had no intention on building a ministry, they just went out one weekend  with 6 sack lunches to feed some homeless people in Seattle.  That one weekend changed everything.  As they were going back to their car, one homeless man shouted out at them, "I hope you come back!"

Kevin asked, "What did you say?"

The homeless man shouted again and explained, "I hope you come back.  People never come back.  They come at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and sometimes Easter, but they never come back."

Kevin replied, "We will see you next week."

From that moment on, Light Under The Bridge was born.  What began as 6 sack lunches one weekend, grew into a team of volunteers and 80-100 lunches each weekend.  Light Under The Bridge built relationships and trust with the homeless through consistent visits every weekend.

Light Under The Bridge began as a ministry of compassion for the homeless and broken-hearted and goes where most charities will not go.  Our outreach teams go under the freeways, bridges, and into the woods looking for the homeless that are not involved with the missions, shelters, and soup kitchens. These are the homeless that indeed feel forgotten, that is until they meet the volunteers from Light Under The Bridge. We not only feed, clothe, and bring various supplies to the homeless, but through the relationships Light Under The Bridge has established with various faith based recovery homes throughout the nation, and recently the opening of their own Lighthouses, Christian Transitional Restoration Homes, we are able to offer the homeless and broken-hearted real hope-Jesus Christ and a way off the streets!

As Light Under The Bridge has grown from coast to coast, so has its impact on the hurting. Light Under The Bridge recently launched its latest endeavor, LIGHTHOUSES, Christian Transitional Restoration Homes.  We provide a proven and unique 3-Phase program to help individuals and their families; bringing about societal recovery and full restoration from crisis, setback, and personal distress in their lives; caused by a variety of issues such as Alcohol and Drug Addiction, Domestic Violence and Abuse, Homelessness, Prostitution and Human Trafficking, Emotional Trauma, Loss, and Hopelessness. We help them overcome past personal struggles and battles, to bring healing and transformation to their lives; to get their lives back on track, to find jobs, and some to go back to school.  We help them get their lives back on track with meaning and new found ambition and purpose through God's love, grace, and tender mercies.

We have 2 locations and divisions of Light Under The Bridge. Our NorthWest/Seattle LUTB Division and our Florida LUTB Division. From coast to coast our mission is simple, to remind the broken-hearted and those in crisis that they are not forgotten!
